Frequently Asked Questions

Do you play only Celtic Music?

We play some popular classical pieces, sacred pieces and popular songs, but our forte is Celtic Music.

Can you play Pachelbel’s Canon?

We have a beautiful version of Pachelbel’s Canon! You need three musicians to make it work since it’s played in a round.

Can I request a special song?

You can request a special song for your ceremony. It’s best to check with us first to see if it will sit well on our instruments.

Can it be a popular song?

Yes! But do ask. If the version you love is heavily orchestrated, it’s going to sound different with three - five instruments.

Do you play receptions?

Yes we do! You can have exhilarating Celtic music for your entire day or any part of your day. You might even want to have a ceili dance at your reception!

You can set up and play for a Ceili dance?

YES! We can provide an Irish or Scottish ceili dance for your reception. What’s the difference? The specific dances and the music that accompanies the dance.

What is a Ceili dance?

It’s a group dance with couples interacting. Similar to contra dancing or square dancing. It’s so fun and everyone can participate. Take a look HERE to watch a video about having a CEILI at your wedding.

Can I have different instruments for my ceremony and cocktail hour?

Yes! I will set up whatever groups will most capture the spirit of your wedding. So if you’d like to have a sweeter sound for your ceremony and a more driving sound for your cocktail and reception, we’ll put together groups that evoke those feelings.

What instruments should I have in my group?

I will recommend the perfect instrument combination for your day. The most popular groups have 3 - 5 musicians which gives you a gorgeous array of sounds. Flute, fiddle, guitar, harp, pipes and drums are requested most often.

Can I add musicians after the contract has been signed?

Absolutely! As your planning becomes finalized you may find you’d like a bigger group. We can amend the contract to add more musicians or add a ceili dance caller. Unfortunately we can’t SUBTRACT musicians from the final contract. Musicians are booked at the signing of the contract and block out the time of your wedding on their calendars.

Will you come to the wedding rehearsal?

It’s not necessary and would be an additional cost for you. We’ll be in contact with your planner or venue to be sure we know where to set up when we arrive for your wedding day.

Do you need to see the venue before the wedding?

No we don’t. We have performed at most of the local venues, and your planner or the venue can give us the information we need prior to your wedding.

What equipment do you need at the venue?

We need an armless chair for each musician at each location at which we’ll be playing. If outside, we need to be in the shade (so our instruments will stay in tune!) If we need amplification (we will discuss this with you and the venue beforehand) we’ll need to be near an outlet.

Can one of our friends perform a song?

Yes! If you’d like us to accompany them, we’ll need to talk with them about getting sheet music beforehand. Please let me know as soon as possible if you’d like to add this to your ceremony.

How authentic ARE you?

If you close your eyes while we’re playing, you’ll feel like you’re in a Dublin or Edinburgh pub or concert hall!
